Furthering the Pursuit of Competitive Junior Golf
Great golfers can come from anywhere, but some of the greatest junior golfers aren’t able to compete at the highest levels of junior golf because of lack of funds or lack of access to the right tournaments and mentors that can help elevate their golf game.
Competitive play helps kids develop high level goals and teaches them how to build the strategies and practice habits they need to attain those goals. The skills the juniors learn from competitive golf translate into habits and focus they use for the rest of their lives.
Competitive Drive is providing the next level of support beyond the great start that The First Tee gives kids. Our mission is to give junior golfers opportunities to compete at the top levels of junior golf and open the doors for these focused juniors to scholarships and competitive play at the collegiate level and beyond.
Competitive Drive was founded by Gabriel Hjertstedt in collaboration with Brent Piattelli in 2014 in hope of helping junior golfers in the Bay Area get tournament play experience.
Competitive Drive’s goal is to help junior golfers achieve their potential by playing in competitive environments on a regular basis. There are several junior golf programs that provide youth the opportunity to play golf; however, Competitive Drive’s vision is to provide these golfers with the tools to achieve success at the next level. We envision Competitive Drive preparing junior golfers for local, regional and national tournaments through continuous coaching and mentoring, and by providing the financial support that these golfers need to be able to focus on their game.
Aiding Junior Golfers
Nationwide, competitive junior golf is well established. However, not every junior golfer can afford to pay the substantial costs that are associated with junior golf, from entry fees, to travel costs. Competitive Drive assists those junior golfers who are otherwise unable to afford the steep cost of junior golf by assisting with these aforementioned costs, in accordance with NCAA and USGA rules.
The Importance of Playing in a Competitive Environment
By playing competitive golf tournaments, it opens up a new world to junior golfers. It teaches them to deal with pressure, overcome obstacles, and create lifelong friendships with their competitors. Additionally, it gives junior golfers the ability to interact with players they might not otherwise have a chance to meet. Finally, it gives junior golfers the ability to display their talents to college golf coaches, enabling them to compete for college scholarships.
